Maine is my muse. My approach to painting depends on the layering of color that allows the luminous quality of pastels to achieve a rich depth of color and texture. The subtle interplay of light and shadow brings a scene alive for me. I love to paint outdoors where I am drawn to open places--marshes, meadows, blueberry barrens, the edge of the sea.
