I am a book artist who creates one-of-a-kind works with my own writing, handmade paper, paintings, photographs and/or prints. Many of the books refer to cancer and the process of healing. My books are in library special collections of Smith, Wellesley, Bates, Bowdoin, Dartmouth, and Williams Colleges; the University of Vermont; University of New England's Maine Women's Writer's Collection; and the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., as well as private collections.
Jane with Wings is made with handmade/hand-painted paper and three original poems, and is enclosed in a lined black box with a smooth black stone on top. Opened it is 17" wide.
Note: Martha A. Hall died December 5, 2003 leaving behind an impressive legacy of artist's books. Her family requests that those who wish to give in her name should contribute to the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine.
