My message is a simple one. I paint botanical images because I love plants and I am concerned about our environment. For several years I have focused on enlarged images of the meadow and woodland plant life surrounding my home. I have observed changes. Global warming, increased population and pollution, and rapid rates of urban sprawl and development are impacting the habitat for plants, animals, and humans. As a result there is a decline in species and natural untouched habitat. By painting the plant life it draws attention to these astonishingly beautiful images that exist all around us in the ordinary undergrowth of our woods, fields, and gardens. With attention raised, perhaps we can effect a positive change on environment issues.
