This image is from a painting series about the creative spirit. These paintings depict people in creative pursuits and are intended to celebrate the dedication and work that it takes to be an artist. They are about exploring my own creative spirit. Buy working on these paintings as improvisations, rather than having a definitive picture in mind, I have been forced to let the paintings tell me how to proceed. This has often meant trying out new ways of actually applying the paint to the canvas. Some of the faces in the paintings are of actual friends and some are imaginary.
