Printmaking coalesces my varied and sometimes over-broad interests as a maker...it's the fusion of painting and sculpture. Collagraph, in particular, pushes flat images into three dimensions. The challenge of printing high-relief plates has instilled in me a respect for ink like no other graphic media. The way it pools in the furrows and catches on edges can illuminate or obscure the topography of the plates' textured surfaces. Land and plant forms, viscera, the tracks, the artifacts of human endeavor and misadventure... I seek to make printed images that are tactile as well as visual--their emboss readable with fingertips as well as eyes.
