Rabbit & House was created in 2006 for the 4th International Artist's Book Triennial in Vilnius, Lithuania and will travel to Sydney, Australia and Oceanside Museum of Art in California. From the given subject I chose to create a rabbit mausoleum from a hexagonal box (approximately 4"x7"). Three sides fold down exposing a tomb and a very small book containing portraits of five rabbits named Thoughtful, Grateful, Spiritual, Natural and Humble.
The three standing panels celebrate phases of life: Eostre's Hare, a sacred sign of fertility and birth; Father and son rabbit archers, in the style of Chojugiga 12th century Buddhist scroll painting; Tempus Fugit, a rabbit runs through life ruled by the clock.
