Sculpture races are short races (< 1 mile) of pushed, pulled, and select pedaled artwork in urban locations followed by exhibitions. The first Maine People’s Sculpture Race will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2017. Individuals, teams and community groups are encouraged to submit a design/sketch/proposal by June 1 to info@ROCKLANDsculpturerace.org. SUBMISSIONS will be REVIEWED by Jurors and APPLICANTS will be notified by June 31st. The Rockland sculpture race is a revival of and tribute to World Sculpture Racing (WSR), which took place during the Cambridge Arts River Festival events for five years in the 1980s, and in other locations nationally and worldwide.
