(Belfast, ME) Please come to Betts Gallery in Belfast for an opening reception on Thursday, January 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm to start the new year with something special from local artist Karen MacDonald. Her installation One Thousand Moments in Twos, Threes and Fours, comprised of rocks picked up from the shore of Lake Superior over the last twenty five years, spans two of the Gallery’s walls. The show also includes a number of other mixed media works that make use of found or cast off materials. The exhibition runs January 12 through February 18.
About Karen MacDonald’s Work
MacDonald’s work is material-driven, fueled by the recognition and illumination of particular attributes in things we often look past. Making use of repetition or a sense of accumulation, she creates tension between positive and negative, multiplicity and singularity, randomness and order, with the aim of conveying both the magnificence and uncertainty ever present in our lives.
Betts Gallery is located at the Belfast Framer, 96 Main Street in Belfast (there is also an entrance on Beaver Street across from the public parking lot). Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm; other times can be made by appointment.
